King Ghidorah VS Deathwing short prediction Blog (Toho vs World of Warcraft)
King Ghidorah, monster zero.
Deathwing, the Worldbreaker.
They are dragon-shaped natural disasters, representatives of destruction, and signs of doomsday. When the two strongest dragon in fiction face each other, will the thunder from the three-headed dragon's mouth burn Azeroth, or will the World Destroyer bring death judgment on Godzilla's strongest foe?
Before we begin…
Regarding King Ghidorah, I use all materials from Showa to Heisei, including TV series, comics, and guidebooks, etc. But my judgment on them will be slightly different - I will decide which ones are Metaphor and boasting and which ones can really be used for scaling based on the plot and expertise. In addition, materials such as IDW comics are not available because they are just officially authorized fan works. Void King Ghidorah is not available because it is far from the three-headed dragon kaiju we are familiar with.
Regarding Deathwing, game descriptions, performances, guidebooks, lore, everything I need will be included, and similarly, which ones are Metaphor and boasting and which ones can really be used in the judgment, I will make it clear.
Due to Blizzard's own problems, I will not use some of their related links on youtube.
Background
Ghidorah
In 1964, a new enemy of Godzilla was born from the hands of Ultraman's father, Eiji Tsuburaya. It was called Ghidorah. According to Ishiro Honda, he combined the image of the Yamata no Orochi in Japanese legend and the three-headed dragon in the Soviet fantasy movie King Dragon (from Zemy in Russian mythology), aiming to create an enemy that is not weaker than Godzilla.
Ghidorah's origin is unknown, but we know that it comes from outer space and has three huge heads. It is ferocious by nature and has only known destruction since birth. Its origin changes with each generation, but in the version most familiar to European and American audiences, humans destroyed the Antarctic ice cap, thereby releasing it, and our good neighbor (really?) Godzilla hunted it down and bit off its third head. Humans fired oxygen destroyers at them out of fear and hostility, and beat Godzilla to death in retaliation, but Ghidorah was unharmed because he was an alien monster. It took this opportunity to restore its head and flew into the air. Its momentum made the monsters on Earth surrender one after another. Ghidorah led a group of monsters to launch a general attack on humans. Humans were forced to use radio waves to stop the actions of other monsters except Ghidorah. The angry Ghidorah attacked the people who sent the radio waves. At this time, the resurrected and strengthened Godzilla and Mothra came and fought a decisive battle with Ghidorah together with the human army. After a difficult battle, Godzilla finally defeated Ghidorah and protected the earth.
Deathwing
Deathwing the Destroyer, formerly known as Neltharion the Earth-Warder, is one of the five Aspects and the leader of the Black Dragonflight. Long ago, Neltharion was given the power to rule over the land and the depths of Azeroth by the Pantheon. However, driven by the Old Gods, he opposed the other Aspects during the War of the Ancients, and eventually gave up the title of Earth-Ward to become the Death-Ward. He became one of the most terrible monsters in the known world, and his name became a whisper of fear and contempt between mortals and dragons. He is perhaps the most powerful servant of the Old Gods.
This black Aspect participated in the Second War, incarnating as the human lord Daval Prestor, trying to destroy the Alliance from within. Prestor is said to be a human, tall and slender, with black hair and a clean-shaven face like a hawk, and is the subject of gossip among the ladies of King Terenas' court. He is also quick-witted and friendly in manner, and is well-liked by all participants in the Crisis of Alterac. It is said that he even made King Genn Greymane of Gilneas smile.
Deathwing also managed to turn his greatest enemy, Alexstrasza, into a slave of the Horde, with whom he later allied himself. After a series of setbacks and eventual defeat at the hands of the other Aspects, Deathwing retreated to the Elemental Plane of Deepholm to recuperate. Deep beneath the earth, deep beneath Grim Batol, he observed his former mate Sinthara's experiments on the Twilight Dragonflight, and later continued his late spouse's work.
Although many believed Deathwing to be dead, he returned in spectacular fashion after the fall of the Lich King. He entered Azeroth through Deepholm and destroyed the World Pillar, causing the Elemental Planes to begin collapsing onto Azeroth. This cataclysm reshaped the entire world of Azeroth and brought widespread destruction. As the world was crumbling, he emerged and brought the Fire to various regions of Azeroth. His ultimate goal was to bring about the Hour of Twilight - freeing the Old Gods and ending all life on Earth. Deathwing was aided by powerful allies and minions of his master, such as the twisted ogre mage Cho'gall and his Twilight's Hammer sect, the powerful elemental lords Al'Akir and Ragnaros, and the Neferset Tor'vir of Uldum.
The remaining Dragon Aspects banded together, sending adventurers to brave the perilous paths of the Caverns of Time to retrieve the Dragon Soul. An ancient artifact forged by Deathwing himself ten thousand years ago, the Dragon Soul was destroyed shortly after the Second War as it was believed to be the only means of defeating Deathwing. With the weapon in hand, the Dragon Aspects took battle to their corrupted brother, the orc shaman Thrall, the bearer of the Dragon Soul, which was now infused with Deathwing's essence - the essence of the earth itself. After capturing Wyrmrest Temple and unleashing his most powerful minions, Deathwing took to the skies until he was blasted into a vortex by the Dragon Soul. His body ultimately consumed by the corruption within, Deathwing made a final stand against the turbulent torrents of the Maelstrom, but was ultimately destroyed by the combined might of the Dragon Aspect and the Dragon Soul.
Skill & Experience
King Ghidorah
As an alien monster that has existed for thousands of years, Ghidorah has fought against various Kaiju and other enemies, including Godzilla and Zone fighter, and they even used various martial arts techniques in the battle.
Deathwing
Deathwing is not only a highly accomplished magician and scientist, but also has great knowledge of shadow magic and technological creations. He can also precisely control anything related to the earth element. He has been fighting with various warriors for 20,000 years. Before he was enlightened, he had already learned the instinct of fighting. After becoming a guardian, he reached the pinnacle.
Equipment
Ghidorah
None, because he’s a literal Kaiju.
Deathwing
*He's a Dragon. While he doesn't typically wield things, he has had his parts fashioned into equipment. So it's possible any abilities the following have he would have as well.
Scale of the Earthwarder
A shield made from one of Deathwing's pre-corruption scales. This scale can take hits from some of the heaviest hitters in Warcraft canon, even multiple Titans like Aggramar and Argus.
Notable Abilities and Passives
Power Absorption
Just one scale is enough to absorb the fel magic that could destroy the entire world. And Deathwing has hundreds of them on his body.
Scientific Creations and Possessions
Black Locus
This terrible gem can drive nearby creatures into mindless madness, and its effects persist even after Deathwing's death.
Oathbinder
This gauntlet enables him to completely control an entire battalion of Dracthyr.
Ashkandur
Deathwing‘s sword.
Defense decrease
Strike opponents hard enough to shatter rock. Sundering their physical defenses.
(Raid: Aberrus, Boss: Neltharion)
Elementium Armor
Which helps him resist a large amount of magic based on elemental energy. It is so powerful that even the combined strength of all the Dragon Aspects cannot harm it.
Abilities
King Ghidorah
Flight
Why not?
Gravity Beam
King Ghidorah's signature skill, he uses this ray to make the opponent's body lose control of gravity, thus completely destroying the opponent. This gravity beam sometimes appears to be emitted in the form of electricity, so it is often misunderstood by many people as being able to eject lightning, but it is not actually lightning.
Storm Control
He’s the Storm that is approaching, he can summon massive storms while flying, capable of destroying parts of buildings and even covering parts of cities.
Telepathy
His horn allows him to sense biology and telepathically over a range of light years.
His teeth are said to fire a paralyzing venom.
Deathwing
Flight
Why not?
Dragon Breath
Fire breath:
His flames can not only burn objects, but also drive people crazy.
Magma breath:
He has also been explicitly described as spewing magma.
.A breath that mixes fire and earth elements. If you don't have defense against both elements at the same time, it will bypass your other resistance.
Summon Elementals
His breath can summon a powerful elemental entity, Ragnaros, with the power to shatter mountains.
Shadowflame
His Shadowflame can also drive people insane, and it can also be used to heal the undead.
Shapeshifting:
All of Warcraft’s dragons can shapeshift, switch between dragon and human states.
Size Manipulation:
Deathwing's size has gone through many iterations and changes.
Healing Factor
Using the power of the earth, he can heal his injuries at any time. Thrall, who has the same power, can instantly restore his entire severely injured body while absorbing elemental power.
Wind manipulation
Deathwing's wings can be flapped at will, creating a hurricane that can blow away characters like Gruul who are so powerful that they can crush mountains with their fists.
Earth manipulation
He can create large areas of terrain at will, and his breath can throw away large mountains.
Gravity Manipulation
.When Deathwing gave Thrall his power of the earth, Thrall suffered the pain of every rock in the world pressing on him. However, when Thrall mastered this power, he used the weight of the whole world to hit Deathwing, which did not cause any harm to Deathwing, but only broke Thrall's arm into thousands of pieces.
Volcano creation
Deathwing has literally created volcanoes as an attack.
Energy/Stamina Draining
Hiram Creed in the Legendary Dagger quest line can drain the Rogue player of their energy.
Portals/Black holes/Gravity manipulation
He can summon black holes that act as portals, which also function as singularities and can suck in items.
Mind Control
Numerous Minions of the Old Gods have displayed the ability to mind control others, including Neltharion. Additionally so has his son Nefarian.
Immortality
Shadow magic grants him near immortality, and unlike using the element of earth, his soul and body can restore each other, meaning that as long as they are not destroyed at the same time (like hitting two planes at the same time in World of Warcraft), he can fully recover, Keep coming back.
Post-Dragon Soul Abilities
Mind/physical control*
The Dragon Soul can stop the dragon from moving forward and has a certain degree of mind control power.
Stat reduction
Power Absorption and Damage Nullification*
After the magic energy is absorbed by the Dragon Soul, the magic will no longer be able to harm the soul of the holder.
Reality warping
Deathwing is basically able to bend the world to his whim while in the Dream, as can all things. Though only characters that know this can take advantage of it.
Additionally, Deathwing can use homing spells to erase his enemies from reality.
Rapid Aging
Deathwing rapidly decomposes a still living Eredar using the Soul. This is also before the Aspects give it their power.
Time Manipulation & Resistance
He could prevent Nozdormu from traveling back to a certain point in time, or even prevent him from seeing the infinite possibilities that saw him succumb to the existence of the Old Gods.
In addition, he can allow the Old Gods to take over his body, thus launching the Hour of Twilight that erases all timelines.
Blood
His blood corrupts every living thing it touches. Preventing healing for years.
Additionally his blood lives on after it leaves his body. Even after he dies. Endlessly seeking its body.
Healing factor & Existence Erasure resistance
Every drop of his blood can fully regenerate it, as long as it is not completely erased from existence, both soul and body, Deathwing can be fully regenerated. Another example is Old god's creation Hydra, which can fully restore its severed head.
Deathwings blood alone is so durable that not evenAscept’s full power can evaporate it.
To kill Deathwing, every bit of his essence must be destroyed, wiping him completely from body and soul.
Madness
If his breastplate is torn enough, his body will destabilize and turn into a liquid mass, going insane.
Resistance
Ghidorah
It is said that he has been in space for many years, which gives him the following abilities:
Cold resistance (resistance to low temperatures in space)
Heat resistance
Longevity
Radiation resistance
Deathwing
Anti-Existence Erasure Spit
Deathwing's spirit resists reality-erasing effects
Disease resistance
The spell of Nozdorme can endow the night elves with the ability to never age and immunity to diseases
Gravity resistance
The description is roughly the same as the gravity manipulation above. He can not only manipulate the gravity of the earth, but also immune to the power of opponents with the same ability.
Time Control resistance
Nozdorme used the power of time to try to control the age of Deathwing, causing it to age and die, but was cracked by his own energy.
Mind Control resistance
Ysera attempted to control Deathwing's spirit through dreams, but was immediately deciphered by him.
Elemental Resistance
Deathwing itself is a creature composed of lava and flames, and not only are these skills ineffective against it, but it can also immune to a large number of elemental attacks through its armor.
Feats
Ghidorah
Turn Venusian civilization into ruins in one day (1.05e+16~1.23e+18 watts)
Create a huge storm, enough to sweep across half of Africa (8.123e+13 watts)
Swallow asteroids and convert them into energy
Fly at a speed of 3~4 Mach
Fight Godzilla and Space Godzilla,
Godzilla:
Fired an atomic breath that pierced the earth, and Ghidorah could react to it (Mach34~2.4%c)
His Burning form is said to be more powerful than any other form. When it absorbs too much energy, it will not be able to withstand it, and scientists speculate that it can ignite the atmosphere (see more in Verdict)
Faster and stronger than Mothra, can intercept meteorites that destroy the earth (almost instantly, 5.8E+25 J, which can also be replaced by watts), and intercept it at super high speed (Mach223.49)
Space Godzilla:
Crystallized the surfaces of 8 planets
Passed through black holes and white holes to the universe (see more in verdict) (The nearest black hole in the universe is 1600 light years away from us, and Space Godzilla only takes a few days to cross this distance. Taking 3 days as a frame, the fastest speed can reach 1685c)
Deathwing
Can instantly place the weight of the entire planet on Thrall the Bonebreaker
Twice claimed that he could destroy an entire mountain, or melt it, or smash it on top of Iridikron, but his actions were not recognized by the dragon queen Alexstrasza.
Far stronger than Gul'dan, Illidan, and Arthas. Gul'dan can lift an entire island, Arthas can freeze the entire ocean, and Illidan can fly quickly to the cloud layer (Mach 4~20)
Can easily kill Raszageth, and any thunder of Raszageth is enough to shake the whole world.
He works next to the shadow creation with the combined heat of thousands of suns.
Stronger than Iridikron, he can move the plates of the continent at will, and put the weight of the whole world on him as Neltharion, he just feels a little sore in his shoulders, and even used to bear the weight of the entire planet for hundreds of years. Iridikron also created an endless, underground labyrinth of mountains as his domain, which was stated four times to be infinite in size. And He just destory it.
As Deathwing, he destroyed the pillars of Deepholm, an infinite plane that supported the weight of all earth elementals, which were also infinite in number. If it was not repaired, it would collapse and fall to Azeroth, destroying both Azeroth and the plane.
This infinite reality can also be traversed by Deathwing (infinite speed)
Again, the scope of his destruction was not even limited to Deepholm, but a huge reality that included four elemental planes (again, each of which was infinite in size), which were just four spaces contained within the entire elemental plane.
The Aspects are clearly in a higher reality, so much so that their real domains are outside of time and space. Likewise, these planes can be destroyed by Deathwing.
Nozdormu's domain is lined with infinite portals, each of which represents a different timeline, and when he spoke to Nozdormu, he saw all the moments of his life shining on Nozdormu's scales. Nozdormu needs to unite with other Dragon Ascepts and sacrifice all his strength to have a chance to defeat Deathwing.
Weaknesses
Ghidorah
Ghidorah doesn't have any notable weaknesses, but be aware that his healing power is limited and takes time, and he can still be killed by various conventional methods.
Deathwing
Deathwing's body was extremely unstable and in danger of collapse at any time because of the backlash of the dragon soul, so he had to use alloy armor to fix his body.
But when he is completely void, if you do this, it will only turn him into a giant Cthulhu-like monster.

Slower on the limited end -
You can argue that Ghidorah's gravity ray will affect him at first -
Before the verdicts…
Q: I remember Ghidorah having 20,000 times the power to destroy a planet...
A: Let's start with the roots. Ghidorah is equal to Godzilla, so it's the best argument for it. This argument originally came from the Showa Godzilla manual, which claimed that Showa Godzilla had the power to destroy a planet.
Great, but there is no evidence that Heisei Godzilla has the same power. They are strictly different things. In fact, any Godzilla is a different individual. You can't even use different works from the same era because their continuity is completely different.
Second, even if we do this, the final result of adding all the multipliers is Godzilla's burning form, which is a cool thing, marking Godzilla's ultimate power, absorbing a lot of energy... until it is completely unable to withstand it. The effect will cause... the entire atmosphere of the earth to ignite, which is shown to be a force that he cannot withstand at all. Because this is the result of scientists' calculations. In the worst case, this can only be regarded as a chain reaction. To cause such a consequence, only... 28.71653919694073 Gigatons are needed. What's worse is that this will make Heisei-era Godzilla 20,000 times weaker than this, which is completely acceptable considering his other performances on the screen.
But even so, since we have combined all the film and television materials and instruction books related to King Ghidorah from the Showa to the Heisei era, I will still take this statement. Whether it is used or not, the result will not be affected.
Q: But King Ghidorah can expand to 4D...
A: This is from Zone Fighter, where he defeated a monster and claimed to be from the fourth dimension. Therefore, Godzilla, who interacted with him, came to Ghidorah again through a long chain of scaling. It sounds like a beautiful thing, but it is just a joke taken out of context.
First of all, most Japanese authors have no concept of dimensions, otherwise, how four-dimensional creatures can enter our three-dimensional world is a huge problem. The fourth dimension is obviously just an alien space, just like DC's sixth dimension cannot be just a 6D space. And the so-called Four Dimensional Network is just a pocket space that can provide convenient teleport for it.
Let's use another work from the same author- Ultraman to answer it. There is also a so-called four-dimensional monster Bruton in the Ultraman series. It looks like a weirder guy than Dorora, with the ability to manipulate space and reality, but its best record is only from its unknown time to merge the power of two universes. No one has ever openly placed Ultraman himself above the multiverse + through Bruton.
Q:Wait, Ghidorah can devour planets and convert them into energy...
A: All the "devour" and "birth" feats lack a time frame, so we can't determine how long Ghidorah takes to digest this energy. You can notice that I use "watts" in the data instead of the common "tons of TNT". Without a time frame, even a large amount of energy can be spread out over a very long time, making it relatively insignificant. This is why we can't put solar panels on the level of stars.
Q: Wait, didn't Space Godzilla come into being in a black hole, or even absorb supernova or even infinite energy?
A: Yes... But, just like what DeathBattle did to Archie Sonic, the black hole is likely to just act as a wormhole, sending Space Godzilla's cells out, and this can only show its resistance to gravity and high heat at most, not its raw power. Similarly, the time it takes to absorb energy and the efficiency of its conversion should be marked with a very big question mark. The fact that you can consume so much energy and extract energy from such a vast energy source does not mean that you can use so much energy. It's like you use a car battery to drive an incandescent lamp and a small light bulb. The brightness they emit is still different because it is affected by many factors such as the filament and resistance.
Verdict
Power
Starting from Power, at the low end, Ghidorah has the ability to create a storm at the level of a large country, can destroy the entire Venusian civilization in one day. When we expand from the Showa version of himself, he can scale to Godzilla, who can destroy planets. If we convert 20000 times blast to him, (Because in the Guidebook, the Godzilla fighting Kiryu is stated to be 200 times stronger than his previous self, and because the Heisei Godzilla is 100 times stronger than his Showa self (even though the two are strictly from different continuities), it will be 20000 times the level of destroying planets. This is beautiful, but Deathwing has better feats than this. As Neltharion, he can withstand several times the weight of the entire planet pressing on himself for hundreds of years, shaking an infinite reality, and even destroying the pillars of the Deepholm as Deathwing. This is also an infinite reality, and if it is not repaired, it will collapse and collapse into Azeroth, causing both Azeroth and this plane to be destroyed.
Furthermore, as the Dragon Ascepts, he is clearly situated in a higher reality, to the point where their true territories are beyond time and space, and Deathwing has the ability to kill other Dragon Asceptss and destroy them in the dimension of higher reality.
No matter what argument you use, the power of Deathwing far surpasses that of Ghidorah.
When it comes to speed, Ghidorah can obtain data on interstellar distances from Space Godzilla, which may be several hundred to tens of thousands of times the speed of light, but Deathwing can traverse infinite realities like Deepholm, allowing his speed to reach infinite positions. Once again, Ghidorah was defeated in terms of speed.
When we talk about endurance, Deathwing was once influenced by the power of time and couldn't rest for months, but even so, he couldn't exhaust his endurance. This kind of endurance has never been demonstrated by Ghidorah.
Overall, Deathwing has achieved a superior level in all three aspects, allowing him to excel in various aspects.
Ability
In terms of abilities, Ghidorah has his healing, which can quickly heal his own wounds, can use his gravity ray to warp and shatter objects, and summon huge storms to cover entire countries. But Deathwing can do more than just the above, he has so much more. He can flap his wings to blow away characters like Gruul who can shatter mountains with his fists, can withstand the gravity of an entire or even several planets pressing down on himself without being affected, and can even create a black hole that acts as a true singularity, which makes two of Ghidorah's most proud skills useless, and all of his fire attacks are infused with shadow magic that will eat away the victim's sanity, and long enough exposure may turn Ghidorah into a puppet of the old gods. Using the Dragon Soul, he will be able to kill Ghidorah once and for all with Existence Erasure. These things are things our three-headed dragon Kaiju has never really had to face before. The last nail on the coffin board of Ghidorah is the omnipotent undead bestowed upon Deathwing by Shadow Magic. As long as his body and soul are not completely erased, he will be infinitely regenerated. Ghidorah is powerless against Deathwing's soul, as there is no example of interacting with a soul in the Godzilla series. Even if Ghidorah is lucky enough to destroy Deathwing's body, he will still be dragged down by the constantly regenerating Deathwing.
Third factor
This is the part that requires least thought. As more intelligent individuals, Deathwing and Nefarian's combat skills and experience far surpass Ghidorah. He is a more professional fighter and more calm. He's not only a master manipulator, he's a alchemist and a scientific genius who casually managed to create artefacts and lifeforms that could harvest the powers of all five aspects, something his son Nefarian spent his entire life failing to perfectly create. He definitely has more combat experience and combat IQ than the Kaiju who can only destroy and howl.
Godzilla's strongest foe fought the former Earth Guardian with all his might, but with his strength alone, he could not compete with the Shadow Magic, Immortal Soul, Speed, and Power of the Dragon Soul. You can say that he tried in all three Aspects, but only left him with 'death'.
The Winner is Deathwing.
"Officially authorised fan works" huh? That's like the worst way you could ever say "I'm only using the mainline continuities for Ghidorah"
